My current office situation (as of pre-Wednesday) is a spot in the same office for the last 5 years, currently being shared with 4 male first years. They're nice, though pretty social; often we see two or three of the other first years at least 2 or 3 (or more) times a day. It hasn't bothered me much, since I just sit in my back corner with my headphones in and work away.
On Wednesday the department admin, Gordon, came in and told them that in the yearly office shuffle, the four of them would be assigned to a new office, down the hall. The plan for our current office is to convert it to some kind of lab during fall semester. And he wanted them into the new office by the end of the week. He wasn't, however, going to make me move since I am going to be leaving at the end of the summer anyway.
This meant that 3 days later, I suddenly had the whole office to myself. Not only that, they had to take all their furniture too -- desks, bookshelves, etc. The office is huge and empty! I took some pictures. The room is shaped funny so it was hard to get a good view of the whole thing.

Big and empty. But, hey! It's all yours!
Hooray!
