Ringing in 2009

Happy New Year!

I'm still working on a "2008, Year in Review" type post, but will post this one first because I have it written first.

I rang in the New Year in style by going to the YSA dance at my church. It was a "decades dance" and I dressed up as the 80s. The funny thing is, I bought everything for this outfit this week (and on sale!), except the shoes. (I just find it scary that some of these things are supposedly coming back in style.) I really wanted people to ask me if I'd "jumped ship" (like Back to the Future), but I usually beat them to the joke.

Michelle dressed up as the 60s. She was the cutest hippie there!

I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel pretty ridiculous. But hey, it was fun!

After the dance we had a few people over to our apartment and we watched Freaks and Geeks. All. Night. Long. I'm not exaggerating. I didn't sleep.

Michelle organized a sunrise party for more of our friends. We went to the top of Mt. Bonnell and watched the first sunrise of the new year. I was actually surprised at how many other groups were there.

We climbed these rafter things, and waited for the sun.

Me and Benjamin.

The first sunrise of 2009!

Here's our whole group.

After that we headed over to Kerby Lane for the first breakfast of the new year. Yay!

After not having slept all day, I crashed once I got home, about 10am. I only slept about 4 hours though. (Sheesh.) I ended up watching football and just chilling during the evening. I saw USC pummel Penn State in the Rose Bowl (well, most of it) and then got a good laugh by watching the Battle of the Mediocre Conferences (also known as the ACC and Big East) in the Sunny-D Bowl.

(We decided calling it the Orange Bowl was too generous...after debating several names from "the Mandarin Orange Bowl" to "the Tang Bowl" to "the Artificial Orange Flavoring Bowl," it was decided that "the Sunny-D Bowl" was the most appropriate.)

Happy 2009 everyone!!

Wow party girl! I'm impressed! I felt crappy so I went to bed at 11, but was back up by 2, puking my guts out. Blegh. Loads of fun.

By the way, who's this Benjamin? He's cute! ;)
