Long Beach

I'm traveling again. I arrived in Long Beach, California yesterday afternoon for the January meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS). I rented a car and first drove out to San Bernadino to visit my old roommate Nicole. Yay! We had so much fun catching up.

From there I drove to San Diego to visit my friends Matt and Auburn and their cute baby Seth. (Who has a crush on me. ;) ) It was fun. Auburn's mom was there too and treated us to dinner. It was great! We had a great time chatting and catching up. I slept at their house, went to church, then headed back up to Long Beach.

As I was driving up, I decided that I wanted to go to a beach. I exited I-5 and drove for a little while on Route 1 (the Pacific Coast Highway) until I saw a beach that I could enjoy. I have no idea where I was. I think it might have been Laguna Beach. But I really have no idea.

Here are some pictures. It was fun. I want to stay at the beach instead of going to the conference. :)

Here I am.

These are my footprints.

As I drove around, I used the GPS capabilities in my new phone. (It's free this month.) It was SO handy! It made getting around so much easier!

I am giving a talk at this conference. It'll be on Tuesday. It's a lot less pressure than the last talk I gave, the one in Baltimore. It's just 15 minutes and the audience will be a lot smaller. This is a big conference, and there are many sessions of talks and posters going on at the same time.

I will also get a lot of free pens.

Yay for free pens! Can I come to your talk?
Love the pics of the beach! Aren't the beaches great! We should plan a beach trip one of these days.
I so enjoyed seeing you!!!

Hmm, I don't think it's Laguna Beach. Too pretty and not enough people. Way to find a secret beach! Don't forget to load up on free Post-it pads, too, so you'll have something to write on with all your new pens!
